Finalists named in search for NMSU Library dean

Release Date: 20 Oct 2021

New Mexico State University has named two finalists for dean of the NMSU Library, with campus visits and public forums scheduled for Oct. 25 and 26.

The finalists are:

• Bella Gerlich, research and grants librarian at Texas Tech University; consultant and interim associate vice president for library and learning at Goucher College.

• Adriana Gonzales, associate dean of research and learning at the University of Arkansas.

A search committee, chaired by NMSU Honors College Dean Phame Camarena, began work in May and launched a nationwide search for qualified candidates in partnership with search firm Isaacson, Miller.

The library dean reports to Carol Parker, senior vice president for academic affairs and provost; sits on the Council of Deans; and has primary responsibility for the leadership of the NMSU Library, a central resource of the NMSU community.

Elizabeth Titus retired last year as NMSU Library dean after two decades at the university. Interim Dean Katherine Terpis has led the libraries since Titus’ retirement.

The finalist forums will take place from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Oct 25 and 26 in the Corbett Center Senate Chambers. Finalists’ resumes, interview schedules and Zoom links, along with forms to provide feedback, will be posted online at https://webcomm.nmsu.edu/hire/library-dean/candidates/ later this week.

The forums may be viewed at https://nmsu.zoom.us/j/97257511658.
